DO YOU HAVE time to file suit?

In June 2014, the Massachusetts legislature extended the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse cases:

  • TORT claims against a PERPETRATOR - suit can be filed until age 53 or within 7 years of linking the abuse to your injuries, whichever is later (G.L. c. 260 sec 4); and

  • NEGLIGENT SUPERVISION claims against a SUPERVISOR - suit can be filed until age 53 or within 7 years of linking the abuse to your injuries, whichever is later (G.L. c. 260 sec 4C1/2).

The statute applies retroactively for claims against a PERPETRATOR and for claims against a NEGLIGENT SUPERVISOR in which the 7 year discovery rule is invoked.  (Session Laws 2014, 145 sec 8).
